Advent in Osijek 2026: price caps announced, opens 28 Nov

Advent in Osijek runs from 28 November 2026 to 1 January 2027 on Holy Trinity Square (Trg Svetog Trojstva) in Tvrđa, the city's old town. The dates are in the call for stall tenants that the Osijek Tourist Board published on 28 October (TZ Osijek). The news this week: Osijek plans to cap the price of part of the food and drink at the stalls, as Split, Pula and Poreč do.

Price caps announced, amounts still missing

Mayor Ivan Radić told the broadcaster RTL Danas that the city will cap the prices of certain products at Advent so they stay affordable for residents and guests. Which products, and at what maximum price, the city says it will announce shortly (Index.hr, Telegram).

On 29 October, one day after publishing it, the tourist board cancelled the call for stall tenants. Anyone who has paid a deposit gets it back within 15 days, submitted bids are returned unopened, and applicants can apply under a new call (TZ Osijek notice). The notice gives no reason.

Where Advent prices are capped in 2026

In Split and Pula the limits are already written into the terms for stall tenants. They apply to a basic selection every stall has to offer. All other prices are set by the vendors (Telegram).

Tourism minister Tonči Glavina welcomed the caps on 29 October after the government session and expects the Advent fairs to draw more visitors as a result (Index.hr). The full lists: price caps in Split and price caps in Pula.

Stalls and opening hours

The cancelled call provided for 25 stalls on the square: 14 for food and drink, 10 for gifts, crafts and home-made products, and one for sweets. A food stall was to cost 4,000 euros gross in rent, a sales stall 400 euros (TZ Osijek, SiB.hr). These were the compulsory opening hours for the stalls:

• Monday to Thursday and Sunday: 16:00 to 22:00
• Friday and Saturday: 16:00 to midnight
• Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve: by arrangement, food stalls must open for the children's New Year party and on New Year's Eve
• Weekend mornings: at the tenant's option

Whether the new call keeps the same number of stalls and the same hours is not yet known.

What it means for visitors

• Dates: 28 November 2026 to 1 January 2027 in Tvrđa. The stalls stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise until 22:00. If you only have one evening, make it a Friday or Saturday.
• Prices: There are no amounts for Osijek yet. As a guide: in Split and Pula a mulled wine from the stalls' basic selection costs at most 3 euros.
• New Year: The tourist board also organises the celebration welcoming 2027 alongside Advent. Other cities: New Year in Croatia.
