The A2 is closed between Krapina and Trakošćan on the nights into Thursday and Friday from 20:00 to 05:00. Add night closures on the A1 near Zadar and Split and lane restrictions until December. What applies on each route before the All Saints weekend.

Checked: 28 October 2026, 18:17

Anyone crossing into Croatia at Macelj over the next two nights, or driving from Zagreb towards Maribor and Graz, has to leave the motorway. According to the Croatian Automobile Club HAK, the A2 is closed in both directions between the Krapina and Trakošćan junctions on the nights into Thursday 29 October and into Friday 30 October 2026, each time from 20:00 to 05:00. The detour runs along the D1 state road.

These are the last two dates in a series. Night closures on this section have been running since the night of 6 to 7 October, as Kamenjar reported, citing HAK. No further night closures on the A2 have been announced after that (as of Wednesday 28 October, 18:10). Plans can shift in bad weather, so check the HAK page before you set off.

What stays on the A2 afterwards

The road will not be fully clear after Friday either. Until 30 October, traffic between kilometre 22.5 and 20.8 runs two-way on the eastern carriageway while a pedestrian underpass at kilometre 21.3 is renewed. Until 16 November, cars heading for Macelj use only the overtaking lane between kilometre 5.65 and 4.22, where the road surface is being repaired.

At the Zagreb end of the A2, the Zagreb zapad (Jankomir) junction has only one lane into the city over the Sava bridge until 31 December, HAK says. That applies to traffic from the A2 and from Bregana on the A3.

The A1 also closes tonight

Work also hits the route to Dalmatia on the night into Thursday. Motorway operator HAC closes the A1 between Rovanjska and Posedarje, north of Zadar, in both directions from 22:00 on Wednesday to 05:00 on Thursday to install sign gantries. The detour runs from Rovanjska via the D8 and the D106 to Posedarje, and the reverse way back.

On the same night the A1 between Split and Bisko is closed towards Dubrovnik from 22:00 to 05:00, according to HAK, with a detour via the D1, Ž6145, Ž6260 and D220. In the opposite direction, Bisko to Split is already closed until 18 December while the Split (Dugopolje) junction is rebuilt; traffic towards Zagreb uses the D220 and Ž6260.
