From Sunday Croatia's best known national parks switch to winter prices. An adult day ticket then costs 10 euros at Plitvice and 7 euros at Krka. At Krka the bus and boat to the falls pause until April.

Checked: 29 October 2026, 18:16

On Sunday 1 November 2026 the winter price list starts in Croatia's two best known national parks. An adult day ticket for Plitvice Lakes then costs 10 euros instead of 23 euros in October (NP Plitvička jezera), and Krka National Park charges 7 euros instead of 20 euros (NP Krka). That is the lowest price of the year. Anyone travelling to Croatia in November or for Advent gets the parks at their cheapest now. Krka comes with a catch, though: the bus and the boat to the waterfalls stop running from November.

Plitvice: everything open, shorter days

Plitvice Lakes is open 365 days a year. The ticket includes the electric boat and the panoramic train within the chosen sightseeing programme. On 27 October the park lists opening hours of 7:00 to 17:00 for Entrance 1, Entrance 2 and the auxiliary Flora entrance, with ticket sales until 14:00 (opening hours). Hours change with the season, so check the park website shortly before you go. In bad weather the park can close individual trails or stop the vehicles. In the cold months most catering in the park is closed, and the only place to stay inside the park is Hotel Jezero. Tickets bought online are valid only at the chosen entrance and within the period purchased.

Krka: cheaper, but no bus or boat

At Krka the winter price of 7 euros for all land sites applies in November and December and from January to March. According to the price list, the shuttle bus from Lozovac and the boat from Skradin to Skradinski buk run only from 1 April to 31 October, as do the trips to Visovac island. In November Skradinski buk and Roški slap are open from 9:00 to 16:00, while the Manojlovac falls and Burnum stay closed (opening hours). On 24 and 31 December the park closes at noon, on 25 and 26 December it is shut, and on 1 January only the Lozovac entrance opens. How the loop at the falls works without bus and boat is explained in our Skradinski buk guide.

Mljet: regular season ends on 31 October

Unlike Plitvice and Krka, Mljet National Park winds down its regular service in winter. According to a notice from the park authority dated 29 October, the boats to the monastery island of Sveta Marija in Veliko jezero run only until Saturday 31 October. The ticket point in Pomena and the souvenir shop at Veliko jezero also stay open until then (NP Mljet). The Planka mountain hut has already closed, and the park has not yet given a reopening date. In winter the park receives visitors only with advance notice. It does not get cheaper: according to the 2026 price list, a ticket from 1 October to 31 December costs 20 euros for adults, 8 euros for students and 5 euros for children, with children under 7 free. The boat to the island is included in the price but does not run in winter. While Plitvice and Krka cut their prices by more than half, Mljet keeps its October price until the end of the year.

What it means for visitors

  • Arrive early: Plitvice currently stops selling tickets at 14:00, and in November Krka closes Skradinski buk and Roški slap at 16:00.
  • Two days at Plitvice: the two-day ticket costs 15 euros per adult in winter, less than a single day in October.
  • Krka without the shuttle: if you travel with children, plan how to reach Skradinski buk in advance. Roški slap is also open from 9:00 to 16:00 in November.
  • Book ahead for Mljet: From 1 November the national park can only be visited with advance notice to the park authority, and Sveta Marija island is out of reach without the park boat. In winter the catamaran from Dubrovnik does not stop at Polače; ferries and buses are in our Mljet guide.
  • Planning for 2027: Krka has already published its 2027 price list. Prices stay the same, so summer is again 40 euros for adults and winter 7 euros (2027 price list).
  • Combine it with Advent: if you are heading to Zagreb in December, routes, buses and tours to Plitvice are in our day trip guide. Which park suits you better is covered in Krka or Plitvice.
