Split this winter: Eurowings flies from five German cities

Eurowings keeps Split directly connected to Germany in the 2026/27 winter schedule. The airline plans 130 rotations, each an outbound and a return flight, from Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Berlin and Hamburg, with more than 45,300 seats in total. Slobodna Dalmacija reported the figures on 3 November, citing the aviation portal Croatia Aviation. For travellers from Germany this means a winter weekend in Split works without changing planes, but not from every airport and not in every week.

Which route flies how often

Stuttgart carries the winter: 60 of the 130 rotations are on this route, or 46.2 per cent. Düsseldorf follows with 28 and Cologne/Bonn with 26 rotations. Berlin gets 10 and Hamburg 6, both over a much shorter period. According to Croatia Aviation only Stuttgart flies through the whole winter without a break, while Düsseldorf and Cologne pause at times. Eurowings had already withdrawn a planned increase on Stuttgart-Split from two to three weekly flights in the summer, touristik aktuell reported. Christmas: more flights, higher fares

Around Christmas Eurowings adds flights on all three routes, which suits family visits and Advent. It does not get cheap. In November the lowest one-way fare is €54.99 from Stuttgart and Düsseldorf and €64.99 from Cologne/Bonn. For 19 and 23 December Eurowings asks €174.99 from Stuttgart, €204.99 from Düsseldorf on 23 December and €174.99 from Cologne/Bonn on 20 and 24 December. The fares come from the booking calendar on 3 November and change all the time.

What it means for visitors

• Short break from Stuttgart: a rotation is an outbound and a return flight on the same day, so you fly back on the same weekdays. With flights on Thursdays and Saturdays, November allows Thursday to Saturday (two nights) or Saturday to Thursday (five nights).
• Advent: Split opens its Advent on 27 November (programme), and mulled wine at the city stalls costs at most €3 (price caps). From Cologne/Bonn the last flight before the break is on 22 November and the next on 20 December; from Düsseldorf there are only Saturday flights until 19 December.
• February: for Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf Eurowings shows no flights in February 2027. If you want Split in February, fly from Stuttgart or take a connection.
• Going via Zagreb: according to touristik aktuell, Stuttgart-Zagreb runs only twice a week in November and December and pauses from 11 January to 26 February 2027. From Vienna, only Croatia Airlines flies to Zagreb from 11 January (details).

Why Split depends on Germany

Passengers from Germany accounted for 796,707 arrivals and departures at Split Airport in 2025, or 20.5 per cent of all traffic, Slobodna Dalmacija writes, citing airport data. Eurowings was the third largest airline in Split that year, with about 355,000 passengers. The 45,300 winter seats are capacity, not a passenger count; how many are sold is still open.
