In the late afternoon a forest fire broke out on the Rujnica hill above the villages of Podrujnica and Momići in the municipality of Kula Norinska, near Metković in the Neretva valley. About 60 firefighters from JVP Metković, DVD Metković, DVD Kula Norinska, DVD Vid and other valley units are fighting it on difficult terrain and protecting houses. Aircraft could not fly after dark, so ground crews carry on through the night (dalmacijadanas.hr, juginfo.hr).
- Road closed: state road D62 between Kula Norinska and Nova Sela. Check HAK before you drive in the Neretva valley.
Trogir: under control
Update, Saturday evening: the Croatian Fire Service Association (HVZ) reported that the fire is under control, and the state road D58 between Seget Donji and Seget Gornji reopened to all traffic around 17:40 (telegram.hr, dalmacijanews.hr).
Status of the reports: Saturday 3 October 2026, 16:10. The alarm came in at 14:42: grass, low vegetation and macchia caught fire on the Vlaška hill above Seget, the municipality directly west of Trogir (morski.hr). The fire spread quickly over dry ground, and the crews requested support from the air.
Who is fighting the fire
According to Marin Buble, commander of the Trogir volunteer fire brigade, crews from three operational areas are on site, 50 firefighters with 20 vehicles, supported by two Canadair water bombers (net.hr). Units from Trogir and Kaštela are working the fire, with help from Solin. Dense vegetation and unfavourable conditions make the work on the ground difficult (telegram.hr).
Road: D58 at Seget
- The D58 between Seget Donji and Seget Gornji was closed from about 16:00 and reopened to all traffic around 17:40 (dalmacijanews.hr). Check the current status with HAK before you drive (HAK road conditions).
- Keep away from the fire area and leave the access roads free for fire engines.
- Emergency numbers in Croatia: 112 for all emergencies, 193 for the fire service.
None of the reports we checked mention evacuations. Under control does not mean extinguished: crews usually stay on site overnight to watch for flare-ups, so expect fire engines around Seget.
