Every September, around fifty new acts play St Michael's Fortress, the House of Art Arsen, Azimut and a club in a wartime tunnel. SHIP 2027 runs from 9 to 12 September. Stages, tickets and the 2026 edition.

Every September, St Michael's Fortress above Šibenik turns into a stage for new music. SHIP is a showcase festival and music conference. For four days, around fifty acts from Croatia and across Europe play on stages spread through the city, from the fortress above the roofs to a club in a former military tunnel. By day, music professionals meet for panels at the House of Art Arsen.

We Move Music Croatia organises the festival. It is the national music export office and brings together four Croatian music associations: HUZIP, HGU, HUIG and HUOKU. Its partner is the Fortress of Culture Šibenik, the public institution that runs the city's fortresses. The Ministry of Culture and Media and the Croatian Tourist Board support SHIP. The festival belongs to UPBEAT, the European Showcase Platform for World Music.

A showcase festival puts new artists in front of an audience that includes managers, labels, promoters and journalists. Artists apply through an open call. For 2026, 1,487 artists from 76 countries applied, after more than 1,300 the year before. The programme crosses genres, from classical music and jazz to rock, pop, alternative and electronic music.

SHIP 2027

SHIP 2027 runs from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 September 2027, the organiser announces on ship.hr. It will be the fifth edition. Super Early Sail tickets have been on sale through Entrio since 2 October 2026. The line-up follows an open call; the call for 2026 opened in December 2025. Every edition so far started on the second Thursday of September:

  • 2023: 14 to 17 September, the first edition.
  • 2024: 12 to 15 September, more than 40 bands on six stages.
  • 2025: 11 to 14 September, six stages and 114 conference speakers from 33 countries.
  • 2026: 10 to 13 September, 50 artists, eight stages and 100 speakers.
  • 2027: 9 to 12 September, announced by the organiser.

The stages run from the fortress to the tunnel

  • St Michael's Fortress: the oldest fortress in Šibenik stands on a steep rock above the old town and looks over St Anthony's Channel and the mouth of the Krka. Its open-air stage with 1,077 seats opened in 2014. SHIP uses two stages here, The Deck and The Hull.
  • House of Art Arsen: a modular hall where SHIP has opened every September since 2023. The conference panels and presentations take place here by day.
  • Azimut: a club with a basement stage, a pizza kitchen and indoor and outdoor bars. It hosts the later acts of the night. In 2024 a second Azimut stage, the Green, stood in the park in front of the club.
  • Tunel: a club inside a former military tunnel, used as a bunker in the Second World War. It holds the late electronic nights with light shows. In 2026 a festival shuttle carried guests out to Tunel.
  • Special stages: the list grows with one-off venues. In 2026 a boat became one of the eight stages.

Tickets, wristbands and the festival app

Tickets are sold through Entrio. The SHIP Pass covers the music programme, and the Pro Pass adds the conference. In 2026 there were also single-day tickets. Under the festival terms, the SHIP Pass wristband is valid for three festival days and covers all shows except the opening concert, subject to venue capacity. Each guest exchanges the ticket for a wristband in person and shows a valid ID. A change in the line-up does not qualify for a refund. In 2024 concerts at Arsen and on the Green stage were free for everyone.

The official SHIP app for iOS and Android launched in May 2026. It holds the full schedule, an interactive map from the fortress to Tunel and a planner for a personal line-up.

Getting there and moving between stages

Šibenik lies on the coast halfway between Zadar and Split, at the mouth of the Krka. The organiser describes the festival as a city event: the venues are scattered across Šibenik, so the evening is a walk from stage to stage. Steps and lanes lead from the old town up to St Michael's Fortress. For visitors with reduced mobility, an access road from the fire station reaches the plateau below the fortress, and a lift runs from there to the underground level and to the stage.

Mid-September leaves daytime for the town. The cathedral, the four fortresses and the old lanes are in our guide to what to see in Šibenik. The island of Zlarin is a short ferry ride away, and the Krka waterfalls are a classic day trip. More on the city on the Šibenik page.

SHIP 2026 in review

The fourth SHIP ran from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026. It opened at the House of Art Arsen. The band LHD played its own music live to a screening of Birtija, a 1929 silent film by Joza Ivakić and one of the oldest surviving Croatian fiction films. Dražen Baljak, president of We Move Music Croatia, festival director Davor Drezga and deputy mayor Danijel Mileta welcomed the guests. On the first night Nejc Pipp & Co., Mark Mrakovčić, Schmack, Sūn Byrd, MAQUINA., Sorvina, Gliste and Dark Tree Bark played across the city.

On Friday 11 September, Kevin Cole of the radio station KEXP presented Croatia on the Move at Arsen. The double LP holds 23 Croatian artists he picked himself. The same day IDEM played Potopi ovaj brod (Sink This Ship), a concert on a boat for 100 people. The daily line-up billed Rakel, Sara Renar, Turbo Trans Turisti and RH Space Orkestra for Saturday, among others. Mariaa Siga, monovan and TRAMM Trio were billed to close the festival on Sunday.

In August the organiser reshuffled the line-up. Turkish Kebap, Easy Freak and Eva B. Csonka cancelled, and Svemirko from Croatia, TRAMM Trio from Azerbaijan and Hét Hat Club from Hungary joined. The final count was 50 artists, eight stages and 100 speakers. The official aftermovie followed on 22 September.
