The 95th edition of one of Europe's oldest regattas: from Split around a bare islet and back, 22 nautical miles, everyone starting together at eleven. You do not need a boat to have a good day out of it.

Checked: 25 August 2026

Mrduja is a bare islet in the channel between Šolta and Brač, and once a year every boat in Split sails around it. The regatta has run since the 1920s, which makes it one of the oldest in Europe, and the 95th edition is on Saturday 3 October 2026. The course is Split, round Mrduja, Split: 22 nautical miles, and all groups start together at eleven.

If you are sailing

  • Online entries close on Tuesday 29 September at midnight. After that only the desk in Split takes registrations, on the three days before the race.
  • Boats are split into sixteen groups, each needing a minimum number of entries to be scored, so check which group yours falls into before you plan a result.
  • The entry fee goes by bank transfer only, to the JK Labud account. No payment on the day.

If you are watching

Several hundred boats leaving one bay at the same minute is the sight, and you see it best from the shore west of the harbour or from Marjan, where the whole field is below you at once. Be in place by half past ten. Afterwards the town fills up again in the late afternoon, when the boats come back in.

Where next

  1. 1 hMarjan, the best seat in the city

The forest park above Split, with viewpoints that take in the whole channel. Walk up before the start.

  2. 21.10.Biograd Boat Show, three weeks later

If the regatta gave you ideas: 500 boats in the water at Marina Kornati, most of them open to step onto.
