When to visit
Croatia in March
March is when the coast wakes up. Days grow noticeably longer, cafe terraces reopen in Split and Zadar, and hiking weather arrives before the crowds do.
- Best month for city trips without tourists: everything is open in Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik.
- The sea is still cold; this is a walking and sightseeing month, not a beach month.
- Plitvice and Krka have high water from snowmelt, the waterfalls are at their strongest.
