Novigrad old town
A walled old town on a peninsula, thirteen kilometres south of Umag.
The lighthouse on Cape Lanterna, at the end of a wooded peninsula.
Cape Zub closes the bay south of Novigrad and carries a nineteenth-century lighthouse that is still in service. You reach it on a forest track through pines, unpaved for the last stretch, and that is why it stays quiet even in August. The shore is flat rock, the water deep straight off the edge, and the sunset runs west across open sea. The lighthouse itself is not open to visitors.
The last kilometre is gravel: go slowly or leave the car and walk.
