Why it is worth your time

Novigrad was a bishop's seat from the sixth century, which explains why so small a town has such a dense core: narrow lanes, stone houses leaning on one another and a surviving stretch of town wall. The walkway on the walls runs right around the peninsula, with the mouth of the Mirna on one side and open sea on the other.

It is twenty minutes by car from Umag, and by boat in summer, which makes Novigrad the easiest half-day trip from the Umag shore.
