The Kamenjak visitor centre, just before the entrance to the protected area.
The House of Nature is the visitor centre of Kamenjak and the best first step before entering the protected area: the display in Premantura explains why the cape is protected and what can be seen on it, with sections on plants, birds, dolphins and sea turtles, on geology and on the dinosaur footprints that lie not far from here. For children there are interactive parts, models and short films, and for adults maps of the trails and advice on where each cove is and how long it takes to reach.
The centre works through the season, the ticket is symbolic and the visit takes half an hour. Here one also learns what is not visible in the field: that Kamenjak is the habitat of half a thousand plant species, among them nine orchid species that grow only here, and that protection is the reason there are no hotels on the cape. Take a map, fill your bottle and only then set out; on the cape itself there is neither one nor the other.
Stop here before the barrier, not after it.
