House of Nature, Premantura
The Kamenjak visitor centre, just before the entrance to the protected area.
Dinosaur models along a Kamenjak path, next to the real finds.
The dinosaur trail on Kamenjak is an arranged walking route that connects the story of the real dinosaur footprints on the shore with life-size models placed along the way: several dozen reconstructions of species that lived in this area at a time when Istria was part of a shallow sea, with boards explaining when they lived, what they ate and how we know they passed this way. The trail is about a kilometre long, level and passable with a pram, and it leads through maquis and pine stands with a view of the sea.
For children this is the best content of Kamenjak: the models are large, photogenic and placed so that one walks between them, and at the trail's end follows the real reward, the shore slabs with prints a hundred and thirty million years old. The trail is part of the protected area, entry is paid together with the entry to the cape, and the best moment is the morning, before the stone heats up.
