ACI Marina Pomer

Why it is worth your time

The ACI marina Pomer lies in a deep and sheltered bay north of Medulin, in a place known since Roman times for shellfish farming: in the Pomer bay mussel and oyster farms work to this day, and the same bay supplied the tables of Pula and beyond in antiquity. The marina has several hundred berths, a service yard and a fuel station, and because of the shelter and the shallow entrance it is considered one of southern Istria's safest harbours. For the visitor without a boat Pomer is a pleasant outing ten minutes' drive from Medulin: a walk along the piers, coffee among the masts and, most importantly, lunch in the taverns that serve shellfish from a farm visible from the terrace.

Oysters are eaten here fresh, with lemon and without ceremony, and the prices are lower than in the tourist centres. A cycling route toward Kamenjak also passes the marina, so the visit joins easily with a full-day tour of the peninsula.
