Luciano Delbianco Park

A small park at the edge of the old town, with plane trees and midday shade.

Activity

Why it is worth your time

Luciano Delbianco Park is a small green pause at the edge of Umag's core, where the old town joins the new part: a few hundred square metres of plane trees, benches and paths, with a children's playground and with shade that in July is worth more than any attraction. The park carries the name of an Umag sports and community figure, and works as a place where two groups meet who otherwise do not share the same space: locals who bring their children here and guests passing through toward the beach.

This is not an attraction but a service, yet a service missing in most tourist towns: shade, a bench and water halfway between the square and the sea. By the park are also several cafés and a bakery, so one pauses here easily in mid-tour. In the morning it is empty and quiet, in the afternoon full, and in the evening the older residents and their card games take over. Entry is free, and the core is a two-minute walk.
