Buje Ethnographic Museum

A collection of tools and objects from Istrian rural life.

Sight

Why it is worth your time

The museum sits in an old town palace and shows what Istrian households used until the mid twentieth century: tools for viticulture and olive growing, household objects, weaving equipment. It is not a large display and does not try to be, but it is a useful antidote to the idea of Istria as a purely summer destination: it shows how people lived here before tourism.

Opening hours are limited out of season, so it is worth calling ahead.
