Why it is worth your time

The walk around the old town is Primosten's shortest and loveliest loop: a path by the very sea rounding the old town's peninsula, always with stone houses on one side and open sea on the other. The loop is barely a kilometre long, but contains the whole catalogue of Primosten pleasures: bathing spots on levelled rocks with ladders into the sea, benches in the shade of pines and tamarisks, small landings with dinghies and corners from which stretch the cleanest views of the open water and the neighbouring islets. This is also the town's alternative to the beaches: locals come down here for a quick morning swim before work, and guests discover that in Primosten one can enter the sea from practically any point of the rim.

The walk is lit and pleasant at night too, when from the sea side the lit bell tower shows above the roofs, the town's most classic night frame. Walk the loop twice, once in each direction: the light from the opposite angle makes another story of the same path. With a towel, a mask and an ice cream, half a day is spent here without hurry.
