SHIP is Šibenik's autumn music festival, and the fourth edition runs from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026. The idea is simple and unusual for Croatia: instead of one field with one big stage, the festival spreads about fifty performances over six venues inside the city, so a night at SHIP is a walk through Šibenik with music at every stop. The fortress of St Michael above the cathedral is the largest stage, the Arsen house of arts and the club Azimut are the indoor rooms, and the Tunel, a passage cut under the old town, is the strangest and most talked-about of them.
Who plays
The organisers announced the line-up in waves through the spring, and the range is the point. Among the names confirmed so far are Easy Freak from South Africa, Rakel from Iceland, Sūn Byrd from Norway, MAQUINA from Portugal, Renato D'Amico from Italy, Nejc Pipp & Co. from Slovenia, Neven from Serbia and Igor Božanić from Bosnia. Domestic acts fill the rest of the fifty slots, from film-score performances to live techno. Nobody comes to SHIP for one headliner, the habit is to pick a venue per hour and move.
The six venues, from top to bottom
- St Michael's Fortress: the open-air stage above the roofs, the biggest concerts and the best view. Bring a layer, the wind picks up after dark.
- Kuća umjetnosti Arsen: the house of arts named after Arsen Dedić, seated concerts and the quieter acts.
- Azimut: the club on the waterfront, late sets and the electronic end of the programme.
- Tunel: the passage under the old town, used as a stage for the first time last year and kept because it worked.
- Two further stages in the centre change from year to year, the festival app shows the current map.
Tickets and the practical part
Tickets are sold through Entrio, as festival passes and day tickets, and the official SHIP 2026 app for iPhone and Android carries the timetable, the venue map and last-minute changes. Šibenik in mid-September is still warm by day and pleasant at night, the sea is around 23 degrees and the beaches at Banj and Solaris are open. Book a room early: the town is small, and the festival weekend coincides with the end of the season when apartments close. Trains and buses from Zagreb and Split run all day, the bus station is a five-minute walk from the old town.
If you have a spare afternoon, the Krka waterfalls are a thirty-minute drive away and quieter in September than at any point of the summer, and the fortress of St John above the town is the walk to do before the first concert.

- Do I need a car for SHIP?
- No. All six stages are inside or right next to the old town, and the walk from the fortress down to the waterfront takes ten minutes. Leave the car at the parking by the bus station and walk.
- Is SHIP a festival for one genre?
- The opposite. The programme moves from Icelandic soundscapes and South African digital soul to Balkan folk melancholy, film scores and live techno, often within one evening. Read the stage list rather than the headliners.
