Why it is worth your time

Plitka punta is the beach that carries a name for what makes it good: a sea that deepens so slowly that one wades tens of metres to depth, which makes it Vodice's safest beach for small bathers. The cove lies west of the Blue Beach, along the coastal path, with a belt of shingle and concrete platforms, and the surrounding pines hold shade in which even an August afternoon is survivable. Because of the shallowness the sea here warms faster than elsewhere in town, so bathing is pleasant already at the end of May and lasts into October.

The facilities are just enough: showers, loungers on part of the beach, a bar by the path, and everything else is five minutes' walk toward the waterfront. In the afternoon the cove stays in the sun longer than its neighbours, which suits those who start the day later. For families with children up to five this is the best choice in Vodice, and for everyone else the calmest part of the western path.
