Why it is worth your time

Just below the top of Brdo, one of the four hills around Skitača, there is a small hollow in the rock that always holds water. The locals call it St Lucy's školnica and tie it to the legend: the saint asked for a church, the people kept putting it off, and tired and sad she sat down on the hill and wept; in the morning there was water in the stone and she washed in it.

The water does not dry up even in the driest months, which on this karst without a single stream is unusual in itself, and it is believed to help the eyes. A marked branch of the St Lucy trail leads to it, fifteen minutes of climbing over rock from the church; wear proper shoes. The spot is small and easy to miss: look for the wooden cross and the stone enclosure.
