Why it is worth your time

Dražica is Krk's town beach: a shingle cove some ten minutes' walk east of the walls, along the coastal path that continues toward the piny cape of Punta di Galetto. The beach is arranged as a town beach should be: fine shingle and concrete sunning decks, gentle entries and depth growing gradually, showers, cabins, lifeguards in summer and cafés at the back, with water slides for children when the season runs at full steam. The sea is clean and lucid, with a view that across the bay catches the old core: from the towel one sees the belfry with the angel, which no other beach of the island offers.

The public is mixed, families, guests of the nearby hotels and locals after work; a crowd exists in July, but room along the path toward the cape is always found. The loveliest times are morning before nine and early evening, when the sun drops low over the bay. For a calmer rhythm lengthen along the path: every next covelet toward Punta di Galetto is quieter than the one before.
