On Marulić Square stands the 1913 Croatian State Archives, one of the finest works of Croatian Art Nouveau and once the University Library. Bronze owls on its corners and a sumptuous glass dome make it a jewel easily overlooked.
Look for the bronze owls perched on the roofline, symbols of wisdom guarding the old library.
