Dug as a bomb shelter in 1943, this network of tunnels runs right under the medieval Upper Town, linking the streets above to the Lower Town below. Cool in any heat and faintly eerie, it's free to walk and reopened as a public passage and event space: a literal underground shortcut that locals use to skip the hill.
