Strasko Beach

Why it is worth your time

Strasko is the calmer half of Novalja's beach story: nearly two kilometres of shingle and fine stone in a gentle arc south-west of town, leaning on the pine wood of one of the Adriatic's largest camps. While Zrce works as a stage, Strasko works for families: the shallows along the shore long and safe, pine shade five steps from the towel, showers, sanitaries and catering spread along the whole length. The beach is public, one need not be a camp guest; it is entered by the promenade from Novalja in some fifteen minutes' walk or by bicycle.

The northern part is better equipped, toward the south the rows of loungers thin out and clean stone with olives and pines remains, and at the very end naturists traditionally bathe too; everyone finds their metre. The sea is more open than in Pag's inner bays, so the water is fresher and clearer, with a view of the Velebit across the channel that turns an evening swim into a postcard. For a day without car and without plan, with a book and an ice cream, this is Novalja's most reliable address.
