Ježevac Beach

Why it is worth your time

Ježevac is the western bathing side of Krk town: a long stretch of shingle and stone slabs by the campsite of the same name, starting five minutes from the walls and continuing in coves ever deeper into the pine wood. This is the beach for those to whom Dražica sounds too loud: the rhythm is slower, the towels farther apart, and the forest descends to the shingle itself so shade need not be sought. The sea is clean, the entry over fine shingle gentle, the depth comes gradually; the covelets' shallows suit children, the open line toward the open sea suits swimmers.

The facilities follow the camp, showers, sanitary blocks, cafés and a shop in season, but the beach is public and open to all. The shore path leads on along the coast, so a swim easily turns into a shore walk with stations. The loveliest moment is sunset: Ježevac looks due west, toward Cres, so the sun sinks into the sea without a single obstacle. For camp guests this is the living room; for everyone else, the best quiet end of a bathing day in Krk town.
