On Slavonska Avenue, halfway toward the Sava, stands the Vjesnik Tower from 1972, long the home of the eponymous newspaper and a landmark of socialist modernism. A major fire in November 2025 gutted the high-rise; it now stands closed and is slated for demolition, a poignant end to a Zagreb icon.
After the November 2025 fire the tower is closed and cannot be entered. See its scarred silhouette from a distance along Slavonska Avenue.
