Why it is worth your time
You pass through a dim vault where candles flicker before an image of the Virgin that survived the great fire of 1731 untouched. Pilgrims sit in silence and votive plaques reading "Thank you" cover the walls. Pause a moment and feel the quietest corner of the Upper Town.
