Why it is worth your time

At the south end of the green horseshoe, facing the main station, rises the equestrian statue of King Tomislav, who united the Croatian lands and was crowned around 925. Sculpted by Robert Frangeš Mihanović and finally unveiled in 1947, the bronze king on his horse has become a classic meeting point and the symbolic gateway to the city for arriving travellers.

Croatia Atlas tip

Line up the king's horse with the Art Pavilion behind it: the classic Zagreb arrival photo.
