Opened by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1895, Zagreb's grand neo-baroque opera house anchors its own square with a butter-yellow facade and a ceiling of muses. Before it lies Meštrović's sensuous fountain The Well of Life. Catch an opera or ballet, or simply admire one of the finest theatre buildings of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
