Why it is worth your time
Through this east gate you enter Diocletian's Palace right where the green market spreads out against the ancient wall: only a few steps separate fruit stalls and market calls from stone over 1,700 years old. Inside, the palace's old cross street leads you straight towards the Peristyle and the cathedral. Pause in the archway and feel the shift from the noisy market into the narrow lanes of the Roman city.
