Why it is worth your time

Marjan is Split's green lung, a wooded peninsula of pine trails rising straight out of the old town. Stone stairs climb from Varoš to the first lookout, where the whole city and harbour lie at your feet, and paths continue past centuries-old hermit chapels tucked into the cliffs. Keep going to the summit, Telegrin, and the view opens all the way to Brač, Šolta and Hvar.

Croatia Atlas tip

Climb to Telegrin for sunset; locals jog the pine paths once the day cools.
