Why it is worth your time

Kaštilac, also called the Abbess's Castle, was built by the Split Benedictine nuns in 1529 as protection against Ottoman raids. The fort on a reef, linked to land by a small bridge, is today the core of Kaštel Gomilica and a striking sight from the sea.

Croatia Atlas tip

Kaštilac is known as a Game of Thrones filming spot; come early to enjoy it without the crowds.
