At Cape Kamenjak, Istria runs out into a wild protected headland of white cliffs, low maquis and coves that glow an almost unreal turquoise. The path follows the cliff edge from lookout to lookout, with the sea pounding the rock below you. There is barely any shade, but plenty of wind, open space and end-of-the-peninsula feeling.
Bring water and skip the midday heat; there is hardly any shade on the cliffs.
