Why it is worth your time

The city has been governed from this palace on the Forum since the Middle Ages, and the administration still sits here today. The building is a history book in stone: the remains of the Roman temple of Diana are walled into its back, and the facade mixes shapes from several eras. Right next to it stands the Temple of Augustus, its ancient counterpart on the square.

Croatia Atlas tip

Walk once around the building: at the back you can spot the walled-in remains of the temple of Diana.
