Built to carry the narrow-gauge Parenzana line across a dip in the terrain, this viaduct now carries cyclists and walkers instead of trains. Crossing it gives a brief, elevated pause above the surrounding slopes, a small reminder of the engineering that once threaded this railway through the hills.
