Why it is worth your time

The stone breakwater runs out to sea from St John fortress, sheltering the old harbour. Locals come for their evening stroll, sit on the stones, fish or slip off the edges into the water, with green Lokrum lying across the channel. Walk to the end, sit down and watch the boats glide into port.

Croatia Atlas tip

Locals swim off the rocks all year round; loveliest in the evening, when the whole town takes its stroll.
