In a few minutes the cable car floats up Dubrovnik's 412 metre home mountain, and below you the Old Town shrinks to an ornament of roofs and walls set in blue sea. The view runs all the way to the Elaphiti islands. At the top, the Imperial fortress and its museum tell the story of the 1990s Homeland War, and a restaurant serves the panorama alongside.
Go up shortly before sunset: the light over the islands is at its best, and the Old Town glitters on the way down.
A small next-step selection from the same city.
