Why it is worth your time
Inside the thick walls of the harbour fortress of St John, the museum tells how the Ragusa republic lived from the sea: ship models, charts, instruments and finds from sunken ships. Through the window openings you look straight down on the old port where it all began. Afterwards, stroll out along the Porporela breakwater just outside.
