Why it is worth your time
Between the wooded hills of Lapad the bay opens to the west, fronted by a car-free promenade full of cafes, palms and evening strollers. The water deepens slowly, and children splash next to paddleboarders. And when the sun sinks exactly into the mouth of the bay, you understand why one stretch is called Sunset Beach.
