Why it is worth your time

Beside the Roman forum stands the church of a Benedictine convent founded in 1066, its Romanesque-Gothic interior dressed in stucco. Behind it rises the oldest bell tower in Dalmatia, the Koloman tower begun in 1105, and within the convent lives the famed Gold and Silver of Zadar, a reliquary hoard the nuns hid through every war.

Croatia Atlas tip

The convent's Gold & Silver treasury is the real secret: quiet, dim and glinting with reliquaries.
