Why it is worth your time
On the wooded slope of Marjan, the grand villa Ivan Meštrović built as his own home and studio is now a gallery of his finest work, set among colonnades, gardens and sea views. Bronze and marble figures of striking power fill the rooms; a short walk away, the Kaštelet chapel holds his moving cycle of wooden reliefs on the life of Christ.
