Why it is worth your time

Hidden in the cloister of St Lawrence's Monastery, this garden was replanted to the geometric pattern of the Middle Ages, its beds edged with low box hedges. Wander the cross-shaped paths and brush past lavender, rosemary and old medicinal herbs. Then pause in the little café for a slice of cake and a glass of herbal liqueur.
