The wooded Osejava peninsula shields Makarska's harbour from the open sea. Shaded paths wind through the pine forest to rocky cliffs and small wild coves where the Adriatic surges against the stone. On the town side lie the riva and its boats; on the other, only rock, forest and horizon.
In the midday heat the pine forest is one of the few cool spots right by the sea; the paths are shaded almost all the way.
