Above Vela Luka, at the western end of Korčula, Hum rises as a rounded top of maquis and stone. From up there you read the whole deeply cut bay, the small islands in front of it and the open sea beyond. The path up smells of wild herbs, and the higher you climb, the quieter the island becomes.
Climb up in late afternoon: Vela Luka's bay opens to the west and the sun drops straight into the sea.
