Karlovac was born in 1579 as a six-pointed star-fortress, raised to halt the Ottoman advance. That perfect Renaissance plan still shapes the city's heart, walk its ramparts and grid of streets. Stay a little longer for the audio guide: the best details often sit in the edges of the scene, in the stone, the side streets and the way people naturally pass through the place. That context turns the stop from a marker into a short story.
Picture it from above, a perfect six-pointed star.
A small next-step selection from the same city.
