Why it is worth your time
The alley carries the name of Marshal Marmont, who governed the Illyrian Provinces under Napoleon, and it feels exactly like that: a straight line of old trees that people have strolled beneath for generations. In summer the path lies in deep shade; in autumn leaves rustle under your shoes. A short stretch of walking that carries more history than it shows.
