Where the ships of the Ragusa republic once set sail, fishing boats and excursion barques now rock in the shelter of St John fortress. Under the arches of the old arsenal you can sit with a coffee right at the water, gulls squabble over scraps, and boats leave the quay for Lokrum island. There is no better place to feel Dubrovnik as a city of the sea.
Boats to Lokrum leave from here; the short crossing is the easiest escape from the crowds.
A small next-step selection from the same city.
