Why it is worth your time
Rupe means holes, and that is the point: storage pits hewn into the rock kept the grain of the Ragusa republic cool and dry here. Today you peer down into the deep shafts, then climb to floors of folk costumes, weaving and everyday objects from the region. A quiet corner of the Old Town that speaks of survival rather than splendour.
