Warnings are issued per region, not per town, and the regions are larger than most visitors expect. Knowing which one covers your beach saves a wasted day.

Croatia is divided into eight land warning regions and four sea regions. A warning for Central Dalmatia covers Split, Trogir, Omiš, Makarska and the islands around them, so a thunderstorm warning does not mean the storm will hit every one of those places, only that the region as a whole is exposed.
The sea regions matter separately. If your day involves a boat, the warning for the Kvarner waters or the Central Adriatic is the one to read, not the land region where the harbour happens to be. Skippers cancel on those, and a cancelled excursion in good weather on shore usually has a sea warning behind it.
