Several crossings towards Serbia and Bosnia have limits well below the usual truck threshold. If you travel in a heavy motorhome, the route matters more than the distance.

Three river crossings in eastern Croatia currently carry restrictions that catch out drivers of larger vehicles. On the state road DC213, the Erdut II bridge at the Erdut to Bogojevo crossing is closed to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes until the end of December 2026. On the DC214, the Gunja to Brčko bridge is closed to freight vehicles and buses altogether, with the detour running over the DC55 to the Županja to Orašje crossing. On the Ilok to Bačka Palanka bridge, traffic is allowed up to 24 tonnes, queues on the bridge are prohibited and the speed limit is 30 km/h.
Why this matters for holiday traffic
A large motorhome with a full water tank sits closer to the 7.5 tonne mark than most drivers assume, and a car with a heavy trailer can reach it too. The limits are enforced at the bridge, not at the motorway exit an hour earlier, so a wrong route means turning around.
