Why it is worth your time

The Kapetanova kula, the Captain's Tower, rises over Five Wells Square and once formed part of the city's defences. Its five-sided stone bulk has outlasted sieges and centuries, standing almost immovable among the square's cafe tables. Today the tower opens now and then for exhibitions.

Croatia Atlas tip

Right behind the tower, steps lead up to Queen Jelena Park on the bastion.
